HSM 2 breaks cable broadcast records.

August 18th, 2007 · No Comments

The follow-up to the phenomenon that was “High School Musical” drew an estimated 17.2 million viewers on Friday night, a figure Disney Channel boasts makes it the most-watched basic cable telecast ever. That’s an eight percent bump from the Sept. 23, 2006 “Monday Night Football” telecast, which gave ESPN the previous record.

Guess I wasn’t the only one watching the telecast. What the article doesn’t say, is that it probably was the most watched show of the night, both cable and free network TV. That is an impressive achievement, given that Disney is only available on cable (with 92 million households having access).
